Win multiple auctions & we will combine items. The Tornado is one of the most important fighter planes in NATO, due to its electronic equipment and outstanding fighter capabilities. It forms the backbone of European air defense. Development, production and maintenance is carried out by the tri-national Panavia company formed by MBB (Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm), British Aerospace and Aaritalia. The NATO standardized weapon system is designed especially to meet the demands of the European air forces. The task of the fighter-bomber is close offensive support of the army over the battlefield and to combat enemy air forces in the air and on the ground. The all-weather Tornado has a two man crew and a very modern electronic cockpit system. It also has an electronic fighter control system and automatic terrain following radar system. Because of its swing wings, the Tornado can fly high speed; low level missions as well as undertaking long flights at high altitudes. The armament consists of two 27 mm Mauser cannons as well as many stores carried externally. The two Turbo-Union RB 199 engines produce, with afterburner, a thrust of 71Kn (13140 KP). Thrust reversal enables the Tornado to land on an airfield only 600 M long. The top speed is Mach 2,2 at 11,000 M. Altitude and Mach 1,1 at 150 M altitude. The Tornado has been delivered as follows: Royal Air Force 220, German Air Force 212, German Navy 112, Aeronautica Militare 100.
